Detailed Description

Minimal stand-in for Arduino's String class.

The Adafruit GFX API has one overload that takes an Arduino String (getTextBounds(const String &, ...)) and Print has print(const String &). STM32 has no Arduino String, so this provides only what those need: a heap-backed, copyable string with c_str(), length() and operator[].

Note
Not thread-safe or ISR-safe: it allocates with malloc()/free(), which newlib guards only if the project implements __malloc_lock(); a String must not be created or destroyed from an ISR, and two threads must not share one instance without their own locking.
